Site Safety Plans

Site Safety Plans are required for large-scale or high-risk projects in the New York City area. A site safety plan is required by Chapter 33 of the New York City Building Code and must follow the guidelines set in Section 28-110 of the NYC Administrative Code. Site Safety Plans must be developed by engineers or contractors, and then submitted to and approved by DOB before construction even starts. Site Safety Plans include potential hazards of the work site and the protocol to minimize those hazards. It can also entail emergency procedures, communication protocols, and the necessary protective equipment. These plans are incredibly important as poor practices can be extremely dangerous for workers and passing pedestrians. Routine visits are also required after the construction starts to ensure that safety practices are being followed.
